The Secret World of Fosters (And Why You'll Love Being Part of It)
Our foster caregivers are everyday heroes. Not only do they care for Dakin pets in their homes, but they also capture some intensely adorable photos like these…and really build their Instagram and TikTok credibility! Their photos of their foster pets capture everything from silly discoveries to sweet snoozes, letting us peek into the magical little worlds Dakin pets create while waiting for their adoption day. Their varied personalities are shining through; from the meekest and mild to the boldest and playful. And it works—these moments of love and laughter often lead right to adoption when photos like these are shared on social media, or sent to friends who see a face…and fall in love.

These moments are heartwarming—but they’re also only possible because people like you say “yes” to fostering. With every animal that finds comfort in a foster home, we create more space at the shelter and give more pets the chance they deserve.
We’re always looking for new fosters, especially during the busy warm-weather months when the number of pets needing care increases. Fostering can be as short or long as your schedule allows—we’ll work with you, and we provide food, medical care, and supplies. All you need to bring is love (and maybe a camera for those priceless moments).
