Home Again is a volunteer-managed thrift store operated by Dakin Humane Society at 171 Union Street, Springfield. The shop is open Tuesday - Saturday from 12:30 - 3:00.
100% of the proceeds from Home Again directly support Dakin’s programs and services that help animals and the people who care about them. Your support raises more than $50,000 every year to fund our programs.
Shopping at Home Again
The thrift store features new and gently used pet supplies and accessories for dogs, cats, small animals, and birds, including:
- Crates, carriers, beds
- Leashes, collars, harnesses
- Food and water bowls/bottles
- Pet clothing (coats and sweaters)
- Toys, treat dispensers (such as Kongs)
- Small animal and bird care items
- Holiday items (pet costumes, bandanas, seasonal toys)
Accepted Donations
Home Again welcomes donations of new and gently used pet supplies. We incur costs to dispose of items that we cannot accept for the thrift store. Thank you for helping us provide the best care for animals by only donating accepted items.
Accepted donations include:
- Food and water dishes/bottles for animals
- Pet beds, crates, carriers
- Pet clothing items
- Collars, leashes, harnesses
- Unopened, unexpired pet food and treats (for shelter and thrift store use)
- Toys and stuffed animals (for pets only)
- Small animal and bird care supplies
- Small animal housing that meets our minimum size requirements
NOT accepted:
- Home decor of any kind (dishes, art, figurines, seasonal decorations, pillows)
- Clothing and jewelry for people
- Books, CDs, DVDs
- Children's toys/stuffed animals for people (e.g., teddy bears)
- Cosmetics and personal care items of any kind
- Furniture of any kind
- Medical supplies or prescriptions of any kind

Alternatives for your item donation
Please consider donating items Dakin can't accept to local nonprofit organizations and thrift stores.
Hours, locations, and accepted donations vary by organization. Please contact them prior to dropping off items.
