Shop Our Wish List; Save a Life

Summer is always Dakin’s busiest season, because it’s when our pet population really ramps up. As families move into new homes, some pets find themselves without a place to go. Housing restrictions, changes in living situations, or conflicts with other household pets can leave beloved animals in need of shelter and a second chance.

At the same time, warmer weather brings an influx of puppies and kittens. Last summer alone, Dakin welcomed nearly 1,500 kittens, the highest number we’ve cared for in more than a decade. Each one arrived needing food, medical care, comfort, and the love that helps them grow into healthy, happy companions.

Caring for so many animals at once stretches every part of our shelter. Kennels fill quickly, supplies are used up faster than ever, and our staff and volunteers work tirelessly to ensure every animal receives the care and attention they deserve. From pet food and treats to kitty litter, toys, cleaning supplies, and enrichment items, the need is constant.

You can make a direct difference in the life of an animal waiting for a home. By purchasing an item from our Amazon Wish List, you help keep our shelves stocked and ensure that every pet who arrives at Dakin has what they need to feel safe, comfortable, and cared for. Ordering is simple, and items ship directly to the shelter. Here’s a listing of our most-needed items:
