Fifth Annual Cookie Run Raises Funds and Spirits in Stanley Park

Stanley Park was bursting with excitement on Saturday, May 9, as hundreds of participants gathered for Dakin’s Fifth Annual Will Run for Cookies event. More than 650 people registered to run or walk — making this year’s celebration the biggest and most spirited yet.

At 10:30 a.m., runners took off for the 5K race, followed shortly after by the crowd of enthusiastic walkers participating in the 2K route. Smiling faces and wagging tails could be seen everywhere as friends, families, and dogs of every breed, size and personality enjoyed the morning together. Supporters cheered the participants on, while heartwarming reunions took place at the registration table when dogs adopted from Dakin proudly stopped by with their terrific new families.

As runners and walkers crossed the finish line, sweet rewards awaited both humans and pups with cookies for all. Dakin extends heartfelt thanks to Stop & Shop Westfield, Trader Joe's and Girl Scouts of Central and Western Massachusetts for generously providing treats for the event.

Medals were awarded to first-place finishers in each age bracket, while Matt Peterson of 94.7 WMAS provided celebratory music to enhance the event.

This year’s Cookie Run introduced several new crowd-pleasing activities, including a morning stretch and warm-up session, a costume contest, and Cookie Jar raffles featuring exciting prizes.

Most importantly, the event brought together hundreds of compassionate people in support of animals in need. Thanks to the generosity and fundraising efforts of participants, Dakin can continue providing lifesaving care, shelter, and second chances to animals while supporting programs that help keep people and pets together through life’s challenges.

Seeing so many caring people come together made the day truly special. Thank you for being part of it — we hope you left with wonderful memories and full hearts.
