Dr. Rebecca Carroll named Medical Director

Dr. Rebecca Carroll was recently named Dakin’s Medical Director.  She joined the organization in 2019 following positions with Second Chance Animal Service in Worcester and Brookfield, MA, Ocean State Veterinary Specialists in East Greenwich, RI and Bay State Veterinary Emergency Services in Swansea.

“This is my dream job,” Dr. Carroll states.  “I'm looking forward to collaborating with the staff and administration in continuing our goals of helping animals in our community and beyond. I am so grateful for this opportunity to play a key role in Dakin's organization. Dakin's team is exceptional, and I have worked with many teams.

Dr. Carroll performed volunteer work in the Kathmandu Animal Treatment Centre in Nepal, the Wildlife Friends of Thailand, and Free the Bears in Cambodia.  She recalls, “For each experience, there were different focuses, such as TNR (trap/neuter/return), which is a population control measure, or rescue of ‘pet’ wild animals not getting the care they need. However, as much as each location and set of goals differed, the common thread of love of animals and nature was ever present. There is so much good in the world, and it was a gift that I was able to see it up close working with dedicated local communities.”

She earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at the Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in St. Kitts, West Indies, and a B. A. in Business from Franklin and Marshall College in Pennsylvania. Dr. Carroll has two cats; Masala and Turkelton, both of them feisty.
