Dakin Welcomes Executive Director Meg Talbert
As Dakin Humane Society’s Board President, I am delighted to share with you some exciting news! The Dakin Board of Directors voted unanimously to appoint Meg Talbert as Dakin’s new Executive Director.
As a New England native, Meg has dedicated her career to non-profit leadership for nearly 20 years.
She has experience in leading multi-million dollar non-profit organizations, working with and serving on various boards, and has proven skills in fundraising, management, forming and growing strategic partnerships, as well as community and volunteer engagement.
Meg is thrilled to join Dakin Humane Society as its Executive Director. Dakin’s core values and beliefs match her own: that people are good and will make good decisions for animals when they are treated with kindness and understanding, and when they have enough information and resources.
Meg will bring a wealth of experience, knowledge, and deep care for supporting the human-animal bond as well as expertise to Dakin. I have no doubt that Dakin’s reputation and mission will thrive under her leadership and am thrilled to bring her on board to lead Dakin Humane Society into the future. She will officially be joining Dakin in early October.
Meg currently serves as the Chief Development Officer at Way Finders in Springfield, MA. She is a graduate of Boston University and holds a bachelor’s degree in English. Prior to joining Way Finders, she was the Executive Director of Helping Hands: Monkey Helpers, a national service animal organization founded to provide daily, in-home assistance to people living with spinal cord injury or other mobility impairments and today, is focused on providing lifelong care for the animals in retirement.
Meg volunteers her time with a number of non-profit organizations, including as a swim coach for the Special Olympics. She lives in Auburn with her husband, stepdaughters, and a 9-year-old pit bull. She enjoys sharpening her culinary skills, CrossFit, hiking, and sailing. Please join me in welcoming Meg to the Dakin team. I believe we have found a leader in Meg that will work tirelessly to advance not only Dakin’s mission and vision but also Dakin within the animal welfare field and our community.
