Sponsor an Animal FAQs
If I’ve met an animal or seen him/her online may I choose the one I want to sponsor?
Due to our limited staff time and resources we are unable to accommodate sponsorships of specific animals. Happily, our adoption rate is very high, and animals do not remain available for long, so we encourage the sponsorship of a species rather than a specific animal.
Remember, animal sponsorships are symbolic, and the funds go into our general operating budget. They are not earmarked to a specific animal (doing so would not be possible — we can’t tell our colony room cats not to eat each other’s food).
How long does it take to receive the sponsorship packet?
We try to mail them within seven business days, but at peak times it may be longer. If you need the packet sooner please let us know on the donation form and we will do our best to accommodate your request.
Can I sponsor an animal via mail instead of online?
Absolutely! Mail your check to Dakin Humane Society, PO Box 6307, Springfield, MA 01101.
Is my donation secure?
Is my donation tax-deductible?
Dakin Humane Society is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that does not receive any funding from state/federal agencies. All donations made to Dakin are tax-deductible as permitted by law.
Do I get a receipt?
A donation receipt will be sent to you at the email address you provide on this form. Please be sure to enter your email correctly, without any typos, to ensure that your receipt reaches you. Keep a copy of your receipt for tax purposes. If you select a recurring monthly donation, you will be sent an annual receipt in January of the following year.
