Program for Animal Wellness (PAWS)
Over the years, Dakin has become more than an adoption center, but a trusted community resource center for pets and people in need. Our Program for Animal Wellness (PAWS) specifically cares for shelter animals admitted into our care and treats complex cases. Our experienced medical and behavioral teams create treatment plans to address each animal’s unique situation and needs. Our teams use a patient-centered, individualized approach to treat animals. Because of your ongoing support, PAWS can focus on helping the neediest animals find refuge, preventing suffering, providing compassionate euthanasia when it’s the most humane option, and offering animals life-saving treatment.
In 2018 over 5,000 animals passed through our doors. The below infographic provides a snapshot of the treatment provided to animals in our care who were not immediately ready for adoption. Your support allows us to treat these animals, giving them time, attention and care to best meet their needs and set them on a path to success.
