Mutts & Mimosas Coming September 30
by Lee Chambers
Mutts and mimosas share the spotlight when Dakin Humane Society’s 6th Annual Mutts & Mimosas returns to Quonquont Farm & Orchard in Whately, MA on Sunday, September 30, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Proceeds from the event, which will be held rain or shine, will be used to care for Dakin’s animals.
Guests are encouraged to bring their dogs on non-retractable leashes to the event, which will feature canine-centric activities like bobbing for apples, a dog-scent treasure hunt, an agility demonstration and dog walking trails. Vendors will offer services including canine photo booth, reiki massage for humans and dogs, and pet caricatures. Event attendees are asked to bring dry or canned cat food to support Dakin’s Pet Food Bank program.
Hosted by Quonquont Farm & Orchard, famed for its rustic barn and bucolic countryside, Mutts & Mimosas will feature a variety of mimosas to be sampled lined with fresh fruits and a specialty apple cider mimosa. Live music will be provided by Banish Misfortune, a six-member group that plays traditional Irish music.
Dakin’s Executive Director Carmine DiCenso stated, “Mutts & Mimosas has become a highly-anticipated event for people who love dogs, and enjoy spending time with them. It’s a fun and unique gathering, held in a perfectly dog-friendly location that offers fields, trails and the opportunity to mix and mingle with lots of other dogs in a relaxed and friendly setting. This is a very important benefit for Dakin, as the proceeds allow us to extend our services to more animals and their people who need our help.”
Tickets are $60 per person. A gourmet vegetarian brunch provided by Seth Mias Catering, included with the ticket price, will be available for inside or outside dining. Dog admission is complimentary, and an optional dog meal of chicken, gravy and rice is available for $10. Tickets are available online at: dakinhumane.org/mutts-and-mimosas.html.
