Grey Muzzle Organization Grant Helps Senior Dogs at Dakin
Shadow is a 15-year-old Chihuahua mix who arrived at Dakin recently in need of serious attention. Found as a stray, Shadow was medically evaluated by our team and found to have dental disease that required the removal of the few teeth he had at that point. He also needed to be neutered, and a significant heart murmur was detected.
Thanks to a grant from The Grey Muzzle Organization, we were able to help Shadow. He bounced back quickly from his surgeries, and we were able to arrange for him to have an EKG, which was needed to get a better idea of his heart health. In no time he was rolling on his back in the grass (his favorite activity) and – even better – he was adopted into a loving home shortly afterward. We were thrilled to see our little friend begin a wonderful new chapter.
Dakin is very grateful for the generosity of the Grey Muzzle Organization. Their support will help us make lives better for older dogs in our care. With more elderly, medically complicated dogs being brought to Dakin, we’re so happy to be able to give these wonderful animals a better chance to become someone’s new best friend.
