When a concerned person noticed a cat in their neighborhood who was in rough shape, they took action by humanely trapping the cat and bringing him to Dakin’s Community Spay/Neuter Clinic. For an unowned, outdoor cat, this guy was amazingly friendly to humans. It was clear he had been on many adventures, so staff named him Space Pioneer.

His friendly and outgoing nature masked the deep pain he was experiencing from four broken teeth and an old elbow injury that had healed improperly on its own.

It was a long road to recovery for Space Pioneer, who found comfort in the laps of the staff members who spent their days with him in their offices. Through rest, pain medication, and ongoing treatment to strengthen his joints, Space Pioneer was no longer in pain and found a home and family to call his own.

Dakin relies on Guardians, who allow us to say “yes” to animals just like Space Pioneer when they need it most.
